Quinn saw me put a video box next to the TV and decided that that is where his blocks should go.
Here he is trying to figure out the remote.
Here is his latest trick. You know I hadn't even shown him this yet.
He can also sit and do this for about 15min. Happy as a little clam.

Two more firsts
Here's auntie Kristin plying my son with alcohol. I'm just kidding.
And of course since I know virtually nothing about football. I got a magazine. I guess I'll see how accurate they are. The draft only took 2 hours. It was very smooth. Apparently my little sister has the best team going. Dumb luck as she knows less than I do. Oh well, here we go.
And the second first?? Yup, the long awaited crawling. I think you will all agree that this is not his favorite thing to do and I don't think he will be doing it long. It takes very little to get Quinn on his feet now a days. He does a lot of walking along furniture and objects and doesn't need a lot of help to balance. Well we'll see. I told Dan I wasn't going to tell him if Quinn starts walking while he's gone. I'm just going to let him walk up to Dan in the airport. So I might not post it imediately when he starts. But I'll let everyone know.

Buttons
Quinn is getting very stable on his feet. Thank you auntie Kristin for the box.
Quinn is getting a little more mobile. He's rolling. All of the stacked objects are my attempt to entice him to move.
I spoke with Dan last night. He's getting pretty homesick and never wants to eat curry again. But he's doing well. Keeping his spirits up.

A Typical Monday
Go for a walk with friends from yoga
Play some more and call it a night.
I just couldn't resist taking this picture. I went in to check on Quinn (because I am a psycho mom and I check on him constantly) and I found him in his crib cuddling my pillow. So sweet.

under construction
Her niece and niece's friend love Quinn.
They love to play with him and entertain him.
Although sometimes he can get a little overwhelmed.
That's OK my little man, some day you'll appreciate the attention.
Did I mention Quinn loves to eat. He's actually becoming a little butterball. It's really cute.
Yay, I'm trying to get more pictures of the two of us. We love you honey. Hope you are well. We are not having any fun with out you, promise.

Messy boy
Quinn is also doing well. He's really creeping along furniture. I'm back to thinking he won't crawl. Like I said, he can. I've seen it when early intervention works with him. He just doesn't.
He also still likes to help feed himself which leads to pictures like this one. But he loves it so it's worth it.
And this one.
In other news Quinn has been Marshallized. I just couldn't do the Ferber method. I did some reading at the library and took what I liked and went with it. For all of you mom's who have been thinking about getting your child to learn to self sooth, DO IT. Oh my goodness. I will admit, the first night was rough. Quinn cried for an hour and a half the first night. I almost lost my mind. He cried on and off for half hour the second night and he was asleep in five minutes the third night. Now I can put him down not asleep and he will lay there calmly until he falls asleep. It's beautiful. Next I have to get him to sleep for more than two hour stretches at night. I'll let you know how it goes.

Little thrill seeker
So I think Quinn is going to love roller coasters. He loves it when he's in his swing and I make it go faster and higher then it normally swings. Don't worry, baby swings can't go too fast or high even when pushed.
My cousin had her baby on Thursday. Welcome Samuel Robert Heine.
Interestingly, they are in the same room that Dan and I delivered Quinn. It's fun to see how it's normally done. I guess they have a bunch of videos they have to watch regarding the baby. Caring for newborns, etc. They come on every night. One at 7p and I don't know about the other. They got a little congratulatory dinner for the two of them. So sweet. Anyway, now Quinn has another little boy in the family to reek havoc with. I figure in two years when Sam can walk and talk and Quinn is three we are in big trouble.
Dan look what Marshall did to his arm.
Two days later.
Finally. Quinn has decided he's still not really into crawling, what he likes to do is 360's. Check it out.

Just hanging out
You know I put this picture in because of Quinn's eyes. However, now that I look at the last post, I think those are better. Oh well, here's another one.
Here's Quinn just lazing about with Tio Gordon. Quinn is really taking to sippy cups. I may actually be able to leave him for a while now. Hmmm.
Quinn at Grandmas just chewing on a wooden spool.

Growing and .... growling??
Speaking of growing, check out these cheeks. He totally knows what the camera is all about now. He looks right at it anytime I pull it out.
I finally got a picture of the teeth
Quinn and Nohno hanging out in there matching shirts.
Quinn loves the fish on his bouncer, but like our friend Robbin he has been climbing out of the chair part so this is how we us it now.
OK, on to the growling part. This just started today.
I heard from Dan today. So that was very nice. He's doing really well.

Hi daddy, we miss you!!!
So I haven't mentioned yet that all the chewing Quinn has been doing has finally payed off. Quinn has two teeth. They started erupting last Monday. First the lower left, then within a day or two the lower right one. They are so cute. I haven't gotten a chance to take a picture yet because the camera won't focus on them.
Quinn is eating big people food. He still loves watermelon. He's had nectarines, puffs, and little chucks of grape. Last Thursday we started with graham crackers. Since then we've had pancakes, pita bread, and toast. For the most part he does really well. We had a couple of serious gagging episodes this weekend, however he dealt with them very well.
We went to New Jersey and New York this weekend to visit relatives and a friend of mine. Of course my camera battery died after 3 pictures. Luckily we were able to get the following photos.
My Uncle makes the most amazing rocking animals for the kids in our family. Quinn got one this weekend. It's a llama, I love it and so does Quinn. He was sleeping when we finally got home on Sunday so he didn't see me bring it into his room. He smiled so big when he finally noticed it. So cute.
It appears that Quinn may crawl after all. He is actually successfully getting on all fours and crawling with a little help. So we'll see, I will keep you posted.

Traveling tonight on a plane
I like this picture a lot. It shows my two favorite people, and my son is glowing.
Right as Steph dropped me off at 4:30 am at the airport I took this picture. I didn't want to wake the little man, but I know that when I get back he will look different. He will have grown, and I only hope he will remember me and I won't be too strange.
I mentioned to my dad how much I hate leaving this kid, and how bad it must have felt all those times he had to deploy away from his kids. Pop's only advice, and he's right, is to put it out of your mind before you get too down about it. That's all there is to do pretty much, but man I'm gonna miss seeing him. (Miss you too babe, but the submarine life prepared us better) Every day he sees me walk in the door from work, he smiles so big his mouth opens wide and he spazzes. And I always laugh. It's fantastic. Some days I come home whipped, and he'll just put the wind right back in my sail. Not to brag, but I think he's one heck of a gift. Certainly to me. Don't know how often I'll have access to see this blog, but the updates mean much to me honey. I'll talk to you soon, have fun, and I love you.
