Update

This is dad doing an update. I have the flu, and Steph has asked me to stay in the basement under "quarantine" until I can at least control my coughing. This is actually pretty lousy. I came home from work feeling all $h!tty and had to turn away when Quinn approached me. Something he's never seen me do. Dad starts ignoring him and next week mom is going to start work. Then it's no more being a mommas boy. And I feel for him. He's never been without his mother for more than a few hours. Some say it's good for him to be away from mom a little, but I don't think it makes a difference. I'm sad for him. I keep thinking of the little man who broke me down and simplified whats important in life. Now he's going to be without mom for the first time ever. Sorry Quinn.
In other news, I got to see my brother Tony fight in a mixed martial arts event. The man is in the best shape I've ever seen him in. Dad and Kim drove all the way from Virginia to see. I took video of the fight, but I won't post it on here. Some folks don't like the sport, and there is a particularly nasty right hook that ends the fight with a knock out... But perhaps just a quick clip of him singing the National Anthem before the event.

My little sister is now in Washington state at submarine base Bangor, and she's carrying out her pregnancy while missing home. Although, she's married now and lives with her husband, so I guess she is home. I just hope she makes good friends that will help her along while her husband is going to sea. Anytime you move away from family, good friends are the best you can hope for. Hope you're doing good Melihna.
And that goes for everyone else out there who still comes across this blog every now and then. Hope life is treating everyone well.

Back to the work force

Well, sadly after nine blissful months of being at home with Quinn I have to go back to work. I am excited about it, however I will miss my little man. I am going to be the quality assurance person for the Stonington Institute. It's a fairly large substance rehab/mental health facility. So, well, wish me luck. I also received an invitation to interview to enter the School Psychology Ph. D. program at URI. This all happened on Monday. Wholly cow. What a day that was.

Autonomy has hit Quinn in a big big way. Not only does he pretty much insist on feeding himself now, he wants to help choose his meals. And let me tell you, he knows what he wants and where to find it. This is Quinn at lunch time.

"Grandma, I want wheat thins with my sandwich."

Daddy went and bought himself an HDTV as a present to himself for me getting a job. He put his xbox on a shelf that's just the right height for Quinn. Quinn loved it and played with it for about 20min. Opening it, pulling out the cd, putting it back in, and shutting the tray. Ah what fun.

In other news. It looks like Dan's sister Melihna is having a girl (95% certain). It might be hard to see, but the babies head is on the right and the belly is right in the middle of the picture.

Happy Valentine's Day

Hello Love,
Happy Valentine's day. I hope it was a good one. We miss you and love you. Hope you get home soon.

Love,
Your family

Here's Quinn sporting his slippers and diaper at the doctors office.

Looks like he's welding, but it's just a light bulb.

I don't know. I just put it on.

In other news Quinn is officially sleeping through the night, 8:30p to 7a. Ah, what a beautiful thing. Thanks baby.

Major posting to do

OK, so I obviously have some major posting to do. Quinn is becoming more like mommy everyday. Those of you who know me know I can pick things up with my feet. Quinn has started playing things with his feet. See the connection. Anyway, moving on.

Apparently Quinn and the cat have come to some kind of accord. Although Quinn does look a little bored in this picture.

And now, so does the cat.

Today Quinn and I were playing the xylophone, and I kept telling him xylophone. All of a sudden Quinn goes over to the bookshelf and pulls out one of his books and flips to ... what else?!?!? A xylophone.

This is the one we were playing with.

This is the picture in the book.

Pretty good I thought. I hope everyone is doing well.

All wired for sound

Tuesday we had an appointment with Quinn's cardiologist. We discussed several things during this appointment, one of these things was the results of the lung scan that we had done back in oct. or nov. As we expected to see at some point, the scan showed a little bit of a decrease in the function of one of Quinn's lungs. Like I said we always knew at some point we would see these results, although they were expected earlier than this, so, that's good. It doesn't seem to be causing him any trouble. The point of this rambling is we are taking our next trip back to Boston Children's hospital for more angioplasty and stents in either July or August. Opening up the arteries more will help with the lung function. Another thing we did was another halter test to get a new baseline on his heart rythm.

He looks like he's wearing a pager.

No Quinn, this is not a toy. If I don't return it in working order daddy and I will have to pay big bucks.

How can he be so happy when he's pulling so hard on that wire?

Luckily the halter test had just finished because he had a great time pulling off all his leads.

Check out what's in his hands.

Hehehehe.

Oh the joy

I love the fact that my son can be entertained by a box or a straw. Quinn entertained himself with a straw for about 15min the other day. How very cool.

And he can't seem to get enough of riding in boxse lately.

Fun in the closet

A friend of my moms gave us a big bolt of material a while back. Well I finally cleaned out Quinn's closet and I made the material into a fort.

Which has been a big hit. He has a Quinn size window in there at his level.

We even have a tiger for a gate guard.
