Wheres your penis mommy????

Oh the question every mom of a little boy waits to hear. Quinn and I spent the afternoon swimming with Nohno and Maki. After we all finished and they left, Quinn and I were standing by the dryer grabbing dry cloths to change into. Quinn was weaving in and out of my legs. As he goes in for another pass under the bridge he looks up at me and says, "Mommy. Where's your penis?" Cringe, really, are we having this conversation already. So I told him that girls don't have a penis, boys do. It's one of the things that make you a boy, and of course I go on and on trying to be more scientific and really explain things to him. Of course all he was hearing was blah blah blah wha wha wha wha ..... All he needed to hear was mommy doesn't have one and he was all good. That's alright, somehow I think I'll get to have this conversation again next swim season.

UPDATE: Just in case you've already read this here's a little more of the story. So apparently Quinn was listening. When I was getting Quinn's things together to put him to bed I could hear he and Dan playing in our room. In the middle of playing Quinn says daddy, you're a boy. I'm a boy too. Mommy's a girl. I had already told Dan the story so he said, "How do you know that Quinn?" Quinn said, "Because mommy doesn't have a penis. You have a penis and I have a penis. Mommy doesn't have a penis." Cleaver little boy. I apologize for using the word penis so much, but I just couldn't get over this experience and had to share.

I can't believe I didn't post this earlier, but Quinn has a new baby cousin Joseph Samuel. He was born on the 25th around noon, 6lbs 10oz 19inchs. A healthy little boy. We are all so happy for Joe and Kristin and the new little man in our lives.

In other news, still no camera. I can't imagine where its gone to. We will be getting another one in a couple of days.

Quinnisms

I have to do what Kelly does and start writing down things Quinn says. I keep saying to myself, I love that Quinn does that, I will remember that forever. Which never happens. Inevitably the memory is replaced by the next cute thing and out goes the old memory. I don't know where he picks up half these phrases but I would like to be able to look back on them. So, here goes.

Mommy - Quinn where are your pants ... Quinn - I have NO idea

I was watching Quinn counting the loose change on the counter and I hear him say to himself .... I have two dollars.

Quinn - mommy where are your sunglasses .... Mommy - I don't have any right now. I have to go buy a pair ... Quinn - go to store mommy, I buy them for you. Wow love, thanks.

Quinn - Mommy what you doing.. Mommy - I'm driving my son around and singing a song I really like from my childhood. What are you doing. Quinn - I'm just growing up. Sigh, yes you are my love. Not too fast though, OK.

Quinn, Dan, and I were relaxing in our bed the other night and he sticks his arms under our necks and says - I love everybody. Well my sweet love we love you too.

So I need to staple the camera to my head. It has gone MIA. Sigh, I have really cute swimming in the pool pictures from Sunday. I hope I find it soon.

Because why? But why? WHY WHY WHY?

If you couldn't tell by the title, Why has come upon us in full force. One day it wasn't there, the next day, it's every other word. Sigh, I know it's good for development, but after 10 or 12 but why/because why, I just run out of things to say. Oh, that, and it's driving me a bit nuts :0p

So as you can see, the camera battery finally came in. YAY. Here are some new and old photos of Quinn.

Auntie Karra and Uncle Jeffrey bought Quinn this awesome display of things. Bug house, lantern, bug net, bugs and glow in the dark snakes, flash light, magnifying glass, blanket, slippers, and backpack. Did I forget anything? No special occasion, they just wanted to. Thanks you two. He loves all this stuff. I find bugs, and sometimes parts of bugs, all over the house.

Here's Karra learning how to play Sakura, a game they play on my Mother-in-laws island. Surrounded by masters, and yet she still won almost the entire time?!?!?

Taking a moment for a photo op with the boy. It's so nice to be able to spend time with my family again.

The beauty, joy, and sweetness that is my life.

And finally, we are going in for our next Cardiac procedure July 7th. Please just keep us in your thought and prayers.

We thank you all for continuing to share our lives.

Love,
Steph, Dan, and Quinn.
